BOOKS, BOXES & SUNSET SOCIAL

After spending the afternoon of the 5th November 2020 sorting out some banking business, PE Pearls Ladies Circle No. 19 took a drive to Groenbossies where we donated a couple of boxes of children’s books and a cricket kit to the residence currently living on the property.  Groenbossies is a “village” comprising of about 21 underprivileged families, all working together to maintain and better their lives.  For more information on Groenbossies check out their Facebook page via this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/854263371374380

PE Pearls LC19 left Groenbossies and drove out to Sonel’s farm where we had coffee and proceeded to get creative with a Christmas gift box, decorating it with paper and hearts, perfect for a little girl.  This gift box, consisting of list of items such as school stationery, clothing, toiletries, and a toy, was dropped off at Walker Drive Shopping Centre by Chantal on Sunday 8 November for the Santa Shoebox Project, and will in turn be donated to a 9 year old girl for Christmas.  We hope that it will bring much joy to this special little person. Please follow this link https://santashoebox.org.za/ for all the information you need to register and see how you too can pledge a gift to a child in future.

We also took some time out for ourselves and enjoyed a sunset walk at Blue Horizon Bay, a short drive from the farm.  It got cold quickly so we took shelter at the local pub, the Prickly Pear, and ordered drinks and chicken schnitzel for dinner.  On finishing our koeksisters for desert, we all made our way home.
