Hello all my dear friends
Time to touch base with all LCSA members and to get the what’s up and running, juicy and gory details and just to share some exciting news.
Ladies Circle International (LCI) Conference 2011
Wow, what can I say, it was just such an amazing experience!! Myself, Bronwenn and Michele attended the LCI Conference in Hamburg from the 24th till the 28th of August and we had such a wonderful time. This was my first LCI and yes, I’m one of those who are hooked!!
Putting the meetings aside, which were also great to attend, the ladies that we met and got to know, it was overwhelming!! Each and everyone in their own special way just SPECIAL!! There was just not enough time to really get to know everyone, even though you wanted to. We made so many new friends from all over the world and it was so ‘lekker’ to catch up with the old ones, like Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, who we made a special connection with at the MTM this year in Zambia and the other International ladies from previous MTM’s, etc.
Ladies Circle is just such an amazing organization that just bonds all the members together as family! Even the few men that we met just connected with us all and when meeting for the first time, it just felt like old friends coming together. There was just not one dull moment. Before we left, I said to you all that we will make sure that we keep up the standard of LCSA and I’m sure that all will agree, WE DID IT! I’m almost positive that we made lifelong friends with at least one member of each Country!! But enough about that now, because I’m sure you are getting the picture that we had lots of fun!!
On the More serious stuff (But still exciting):
LCI Board, ’11-’12 with the Motto: SHARING IS CARING
Immediate Past President – Malin Arenius – Sweden
President – Sharon Taitz – Israel
Vice President – Gitte Hoyer – Denmark
Secretary – Kate Jones – GB&I
Treasurer – Joy-Anne Desbois – France
Webmaster – Ester Hjartardottir – Iceland
I’m sure by now all have received the introduction of the new LCI Board, ’11-’12, if not, please contact your Circle Chair or Secretary, alternatively Uzanne, our National Secretary.
We’ve got a Ladies Circle Song!! When we get together, we’ll sing it to you, to the tune of the Lima Song, but for now, the words:
Here’s a Circler
There’s a Circler
And another pretty Circler
Circle, Circle, Ladies Circle
Ladies Circle Song!
Associate Member Country
Slovenija became an Associate Member Country and the two ladies that represented them where just so overwhelmed with the idea of finally being part of LC. It gives me goose bumps to think of their excitement! It’s like being inducted as a new member into your Circle!!
) It was also very interesting when they proudly said that Slovenija is the only Country with the word LOVE in it. Truly special!!
International Service Projects (ISP)
ECPAT – 2009 – 2011
At the LCI Conference they presented the report on what they achieved with this project and it brought tears to many eyes. To see the impact we as Ladies Circle make in the world, PRICELESS!! 119,625€ raised for this project in the past two years and even LCSA, through pin sales and connecting via Facebook, made a difference.
ECPAT International is a global network of organizations working together to end child prostitution, child pornography, and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes.
VIVA CON AGUA – 2011 – 2013
At the LCI Conference, LC Germany won the bid for the ISP ’11-’13. Through this project many people in Ethiopia will have access to clean drinking water for many years to come.
VcA raises awareness on the issues surrounding access to clean drinking water by organizing fundraising events. Apart from projects of water supply, they also provide hygiene and sanitation education and the education of caretakers for pump facilities in order to guarantee long term sustainability of the wells and water systems. The cost for such system amount to 7,000€, to which about 600 people will be provided with drinking water.

Diarise it, stick a note on the fridge, bathroom mirror, where ever, DO IT!!! For those who do not know what the MTM is all about: This is a meeting half way through the year, for LC it will be end of January, where region members get together to discuss the first half of the year and the way forward towards the end of the year, end of August. We have a whole weekend of fun, attend one meeting and they are also now doing a workshop. My Dear Fellow Circlers & Guests
As Ladies Circle South Africa President, My Goals for the Ladies Circle Year 2011/12 is to:
1. Adopt the usage of more detailed & frequent Communication.
2. Enliven the feeling of “Together, even though apart”.
3. Promote LCSA to expand our organization.
4. Involve ALL to build a stronger organization.
5. Have closer cooperation with AGORA, Round Table and 41’er Club – Side by Side.
6. Stop procrastinating and DO IT.
I know that each one of us, as Circlers, will make it our own and Circle together towards these goals.
My Motto and Logo for the year goes hand in hand.
It is a Collection of my 5 strongest strengths and each converted to an Image/Word:
Connectedness – Human Chain
Input – Connected
Belief – Heart
Harmony – Circle
Adaptability – Wave
The Human Chain symbolizes:
1. Each person as an individual with his/her own strengths.
We are all different. We need to embrace & except our differences.
2. Connectedness. It is the bond we have between ourselves, be it with Circlers, AGORAs, Tablers, 41’ers and with others. The connection makes us strong.
The word Connected symbolizes:
1. On an IT level the sticky stuff that holds the connection between us, to form an unbreakable chain. By staying in touch, we will build our organizations as well as our relationships with each other.
2. Input can only happen when there is participation from all by communication.
The Heart symbolizes:
1. Love. It is all we need! It is what motivates and empowers us. Because of Love, we are the people that we are and the reason why we do what we do. Without it we will become empty vessels.
2. Belief comes from the heart. It also brings trust, as we do not just give our hearts to anyone. With this, it brings certainty. This, in turn, brings love.
The Circle symbolizes:
1. Togetherness. We are all part of the bigger picture and need to take care of each other. If we take hands, look for consensus and support, we can achieve the impossible.
2. Harmony works in a circle, which brings us coherence.
This year’s Motto written in a wavy style symbolizes:
1. Change happens daily. We need to adapt with these changes and make it work for us.
2. Adaptability also has to be a wave of accepting that things are going to change and we must have flexibility to go with the chance.
And therefore our Motto for the year is “Connected with Love”.
To my fellow SA Circlers, I will see you soon!
To all other guests, enjoy the exploration of our website.
Please feel free to contact us.

Sonel Prinsloo – President, Ladies Circle South Africa
My logo for the year is a butterfly.
In the western world, the symbol of the butterfly stands for freedom, fun and joyous times. It is also symbolises the will power to travel and explore.
My motto for the year is- Together we can fly
Butterflies are beautiful and unique like all of us, each one having its own strengths and weaknesses. Together we can make those strengths stronger and help assist with the weaknesses in any way possible. TOGETHER WE CAN.
My challenge to all of you is
Be the butterfly. . Spread your wings and fly. Travel, explore how other circles face their challenges and do their projects. Meet new circlers; reconnect with the circlers you haven’t seen in a while.
I would like us all to grow as LCSA by getting to know each other, forming lasting friendships and standing together as one.
My goals for the year:
1. To attend at least 1 meeting this year at every circle . . . sorry Lakeside I will be at all 12 of yours
2. To attend 1 fundraiser or more for each circle.
3. We are going to break the communication barrier some circles seem to have with the national board.
4. We as a national board are going to spread our wings a bit more and travel more to get to know all of you.
5. Last but not least I am going to try and make it a happy successful year for LCSA and all the circlers in our wonderful organisation.
Remember: Circle is what you make it. You will always get out of circle what you put in.
TOGETHER WE CAN FLY
Ladies Circle South Africa would like to welcome their new National Board for 2010/2011. At the Presidents banquet held in Louis Tricardt on the 29th May 2010 the national board was elected. Our board is a fun, outgoing and hard working team with many goals to reach this year. And with the help of fellow circlers and friends we will achieve every single one of these goals.
