We are the newest addition to the Ladies Circle South Africa family and were officially chartered in August 2013. We have been working hard over the past year to ensure we comply with all the criteria required to form a Circle and are now proud to be an official part of the organisation. We are a group of 7 lively, energetic young ladies who love to make a difference in our community.
East London Ladies Circle 23 was officially chartered on Saturday the 3rd August 2013, but the journey began back in the June of 2012 where we had our first meeting of intent with 6 members. We managed to gain another enthusiastic lady along the way and are up to 7 members. Our first project was a Zoo party for the children of the Greensleeves orphanage – an amazing day was had by all and from that moment we knew we would be unstoppable.
Throughout the next few months we started a number of projects including:
Bookworm Project – collection of old books and magazines for distribution to old age homes and schools. This is an ongoing project with handovers taking place quarterly.
Old clothes collection – we collect second hand clothes and redistribute to old age homes and schools. This is an ongoing project with handovers taking place quarterly.
Santa Shoebox Project– we managed to have 40 shoebox size presents sponsored in order to handover to the Santa Shoebox organisation which distributes the gifts to underprivileged children at Christmas time. We are assisting the Santa Shoebox organisation again this year and our target is 100 boxes this time around! For more information on how you can help please contact us on the details below!
Christmas Crackers– We collected empty toilet rolls, filled them with sweets and handed them out to old age homes and children’s homes at Christmas time.
Black Bra Fund Raiser– We held a side-by-side Black Bra and High Heel ladies night fundraiser with Gonubie Round Table in May 2013. This was our very first fundraiser and we managed to handover R 16500 in total to The Victoria Home Trust which assists elderly people within East London and surrounding areas.
