CHARITY MARCH

Charity March is an initiative started by our LCI Past President, Gry Haugen, were we as Circlers in the month of March promote the Service side of Ladies Circle. PE Pearls LC19 had an early start on February 28thby donating blood at the SANBS – South African National Blood Service. Together we are saving lives one pint at a time.

Charity March Fun included working some more on the SOS Children’s Village Project’s carpet, visiting Thu Thuzela Care Centre where we have a Rape Care Cupboard filled with care packages, branding the Rape Care Package Cupboard, visiting the SA Quilters Guild’s Traveling Quilt Exhibition and enjoyed coffee at the Heritage Café.

We also started our Forty Days – Forty items drive on March 6th, which marked the start of 40 days of Lent. For each day of Lent, PE Pearls Ladies Circle No. 19 challenged our supporters and the public to remove one item of clothing from their cupboards that they no longer wear and to pop it into a bag. At the end of the 40 days they messaged us for collection or drop-off.

Time flew by and after everyone decluttered and helped make 40 days of Lent Awesome, we kept our promise to redistribute those items to those most in need.PE Pearls LC19 spread some Sparkle to the ladies of Poppy Art Studio in the Sidwell Brown Flats – Place of Hope by donating the clothing collection. A donation of Easter Eggs and Kitchen Crockery were also handed over from Algoa Toyota 4×4 Club’s Helping Hand.
