Over the years, LC6 have provided much needed support to The Haven as and when we can. During 2019, some of their regular sponsors reduced their sponsorships, resulting in the wonderful people from The Haven working so much harder to secure sponsors, plus also extending their vegetable garden to provide more food to the folks living on the premises, plus for the people from the community who also eat out of The Haven’s kitchen.
LC6 decided then to host a Christmas Lunch for the people of The Haven – the meal provided by LC6, together with party packs, school supplies, colouring books and some basic toys to the children of The Haven. We catered for 70 people and boy did that require many chickens and lots of carrots to be grated – not to mention the rice that was cooked.
It was a successful day and extremely appreciated by each and every one that joined us on the day for the lunch. Providing a one meal and a few small things may seem insignificant, but for those that are not as fortunate as the rest of us this means everything. We look forward to how we can further assist The Haven in 2020 – after all, they provide food for those that need to eat, and shelter for those that need a place to stay plus relevant programs to ensure people can become self-sufficient again and that all the children complete their education.
