NATIONAL CUPCAKE DAY
National Cupcake Day 2015 was a huge success, with more than 70 malls participating nationally to help make this the sweetest day of the year!
Shiraz Ladies Circle 8 and Paarl Round Table 44 combined forces at Paarl Mall to raise funds and create awareness of childhood cancer.
Amazing bakers and decorators from all over the Western Cape donated more than 2000 beautifully decorated cupcakes which were “sold” for a R10 donation, helping to raise R19 630 at Paarl Mall.
A total of R1 50 1240 was raised nationally. These funds will be used to help raise awareness of early warning signs and to assist children with cancer.
Cupcakes of Hope beneficiary and cancer survivor Claire Hart(3) joined the festivities at Paarl Mall. Claire was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia in September 2013. The only curative strategy for Claire was a bone marrow transplant, through which Claire received a mismatched 5/6 cord blood unit from Dusseldorf, Germany. Claire is currently 225 days post transplant and doing extremely well. She is still an out patient at the Hematology/Oncology Department at Red Cross Children’s Hospital where she is monitored with regular check-ups and blood counts.
