Maitland Beach Cleanup

During the Waste Challenge earlier in the month, PE Pearls Ladies Circle No. 19 had noticed just how messy Maitlands Beach had become, and for this reason we decided to organize another beach cleanup to target this specific area.

PE Pearls LC19 invited everyone to meet us at Maitlands Beach parking lot on Monday 22 March 2021 for a Heritage Day Beach Cleanup.

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality held a massive clean-up campaign on the same day, posing the question “Can the City be cleaned in one day?” and everyone that joined PE Pearls LC19 at Maitlands, made every attempt to prove that it could be done.

In little over an hour we had collected enough black bags full of rubbish to warrant getting a bakkie to collect and dispose of the waste. Thank you to Carl Mattheus for assisting us in this regard.

A special thank you goes out to Nadine Schady and her team from Maranatha Streetworkers Trust for joining our cause, as well as Pienaar & Yolande Allers from Round Table PE West 142.

We would also like to thank everyone else that took time out from their busy schedules to assist us in making a difference.
