President and Vice President’s Visit
LCSA Vice-President, Riana Otto visited Port Elizabeth from August 1st till 3rd and were hosted by LC19. Sonel fetch Riana at airport and by mere luck, there were a large singing crowd with banners welcoming passengers. With time to waste, refreshments at Something Good Road House were in order seeing as the outside weather was pleasant. After visiting the penguins at SANCCOB (previously Samrec), we settled in at Sonel’s place on the farm and soon afterwards the evening’s entertainment started. We picked up Debbie Mostert, bumped a cow in the road, thank goodness all were okay and so given the name Krasinda the Crawling Cow. After squashing 6 ladies in a tiny vehicle, we went to the Pier at Kings Beach to take in the night-lights, Boardwalk for the Watershow and then to Salt in Stanley Street for some Fine Dining and to celebrate Debbie’s B-day of the 2nd.
We spent the whole Wednesday Geocaching and sightseeing all over Port Elizabeth and ended the day off with a braai at the 4×4 Club. Early Wednesday morning Chantal Myburgh brought coffee and Breakfast cookies to the farm and we enjoyed the sunrise. Soon we were off to go do some more caching and then we went to the SOS Children’s Village. Here we did a book handover, supported the Denim Drive, chatted and played with some children and were shown the operation of one of the Village homes by one of the trained House Moms.
After having Sundowners at Barnicles down by the seaside, LCSA President, Michelle Jacobsz arrived on the farm for her Presidential visit together with Bets Theron, Garden Route LC20 Chairlady. All the Pearls got stuck in to make dinner and brought sweet Treats to celebrate our visitors and small gifts and pins were exchanged. Thank you once again to Michelle, Riana and Bets for the visit. We hope to see you in PE again soon.
