Projects July – September

We were busy during the winter months…

On the 24th of July, Sandton Ladies Circle held an online Bingo event that was inspired with a Christmas in July theme.  We raised just over R2700.00 for our charity causes! Chantess Wiggill was our wonderful host and made it so much fun for everyone.  Judy Theunissen won the best dressed for the evening and Nicola Ferreira won the lucky draw for a wine and chocolate hamper.  There were 6 rounds and each round had one winner that won a prize!  The funds that were raised will be added to our general charity fund to support any causes that are close to our hearts, we’ll keep you posted.
What a night it was…

On the 30th of July, we celebrated International Friendship day by making a video.  Our main theme was that we share a special friendship and that we had become family. Together we are making our circle bigger.

On the 7th of August, Nicola, Susan and Amanda had a long breakfast at Pablo restaurant in Sandton. It’s not always about work, sometimes it’s about play too and having a social just to catch up, listen to nice music and visit a vibey restaurant.

On the 14th of August we hosted an online Style Master Class with Nerine Jones to empower woman to organize their wardrobes and to be inspired to “look and feel” their “beautiful best”. We raised just over R3000.00 from individuals that attended the workshop and these funds will be used to support Gender Based Violence. Watch this space! Thank you to the gorgeous Nerine Jones for hosting the event for us.

On the 21st of August we held our monthly meeting, our first in person meeting after the 3rd wave. We discussed many exciting projects that are in the pipeline. Kayla, a prospect, light the friendship candle for us.

On the 9th of September, Susan and Linda visited the SPCA Midrand to deliver some goods for their charity shop and visit the doggies. Midrand SPCA received a donation from RCL foods, which consisted out of 40 x 25kgs of dog food, which had been delivered the previous day.  This donation was arranged by Linda Reddy on behalf of Sandton Ladies Circle.  The doggies were very happy to see Linda and Susan!

Amanda, Nicola, Nolene and Susan attended the Midrand Car boot sale on the 11th of September to raise funds for causes close to our hearts.  We sold pre-loved items that were donated by our community and an amount of R1380 was raised. We sell goods to indigent members of the community, so this is a fundraiser that keeps on giving and making a difference in so many lives.

On the 16th of September our monthly meeting was held at Nolene’s house.  An opportunity to meet little Rachel and to catch up with everyone. Many idea’s and projects were discussed in this meeting.  Watch this space as more will unfold in the future…

Amanda, Nicola and Susan met up with Tamsin (National Treasurer) at Perron in Bryanston during her visit to Johannesburg. It seems like Mexican is our thing, as we always find ourselves here. Was so lovely to catch up with Tamsin!

On the 25th of September was Witbank Ladies Circle Charter. Susan attended the Charter on behalf of Sandton Ladies Circle in support. The Dinner was lovely, and the Witbank ladies truly did an amazing job! Sandton Ladies Circle gifted Witbank the Circle of the Year award.

Amanda made 5 beautiful Fidget Blankets in support of of Witbank Ladies Circle’s projects.  These Fidget Blankets will be donated to various Old age homes for Alzheimer Awareness.

On a personal note

Nolene and Ryan van de Coolwijk welcomed their Baby Girl Rachel on the 5th of July. Baby Rachel is now our youngest member, at only 3 months old.

Linda left for her climb on the 14th of July and reached the highest peak in Africa for the Trek4Mandela Expedition group for 2021. This project was very inspiring

Just like a climb to the top of a mountain, the year has been challenging, but also an opportunity for growth.  In our personal lives we were all constantly challenged. How does one continue to care, form friendships and serve our community despite these challenges?  Everyone has a hectic lifestyle, is coping with a pandemic, but is still wanting continuously give, care, and provide friendship and service. We can do this, because this is a calling and a passion. There is also something that bonds us all together. To be human, to care, to give, its friendship and sometimes just being there for a fellow human being but lastly, we are Ladies Circle and that is why we can and we do…we are #braveboldinspired
