2020 was an unusual year to say the least! At the start of the year we had so many incredible plans, another Zumbathon, a Quiz (in person), a ladies brunch, but Covid-19 happened and our plans were immediately put on hold. We had to become creative and connect online and start doing online fundraisers, and we rose to the challenge that’s for sure!
Before having to go online, we hosted a Zumbathon at Charity Begins With Me on 14 March, the Children just loved it!
Then we went online!
We conducted our meetings online and hosted a Facebook Pet Competition to raise funds for the Midrand SPCA from 21 May – 25 June. We raised R5 120.98. Prizes were sponsored by DogsMeow.
We held our first AGM on 21 May and it was a virtual one!
On 18 July we hosted our Nelson Mandela Day quiz online to raise funds for food for Doorway to Dignity and Charity Begins with me during the severe lockdown and troublesome times caused by Covid-19. We raised R4 108.12 and bought groceries with the proceeds.
On 18 and 25 September we delivered muffins we baked to Charity Begins with Me for them to hand out as part of their Tubs of Love.
On 3 October we did our first car boot sale to raise funds for our projects. We raised R730 by selling our second hand goods, not bad!
On 10 October we made Potjies for Pots of Hope for Doorway to Dignity to distribute food to the homeless.
In October we did an online fundraiser for CANSA and raised R370 through our Backabuddy campaign.
On 31 October we went to donate blood and were joined by Sandton Round Table!
In December we did a Christmas Book Drive and delivered over 379 NEW books for children living in informal settlements for Charity Begins with Me. The books were sponsored by Exclusive Books.
On 10 December we inducted our newest member, Linda Reddy into our circle.
Showee, what a year we had!
